Artists have a long relationship with the environmental movement, but we have done little about our own risky studio situation. I have the Solution.

My career was threatened. I became sensitized by prolonged exposure to VOCs in my studio and classes. As a result I cannot be near anything with fumes, including ordinary household cleaners. I invented the three Media in 1969, and they are in all my paintings. The Solvent is newer. I began quietly marketing all four products nine years ago at the request of other painters.

I launched my Sporny Solution program at Marshall University Art Department ten years ago. There have been no complaints from students about fumes. I no longer feel dizzy or disoriented; the headaches are gone. My career is not making me sick anymore.

I hope you will join me and other artists, turning this into a national movement to make oil painting as safe as possible. This will keep the 500-year tradition going for another five centuries.
